Los Angeles is the largest city in California and second largest in the United States.  which makes it one of the world's most cultural diverse city.  With some

of the best weather due to its famous Mediterranean climate, a local can plan going to the beach to catch waves or skiing in the mountains all in the same weekend.

Los Angeles and the rest of California were purchased as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo at the end of the Mexican–American War and became part

of the United States in 1848.  On April 4, 1850 it became incorporated as a municipality.  The completion of the Los Angeles Aqueduct in 1913 which delivers water from the Owens River in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains into Los Angeles led to its rapid growth.  Central to the city is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) which is the fourth busiest in the world and the Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach which collectively is the fifth largest container port in the world.  The greater Los Angeles area is comprised of about 88 municipalities.  It is also home to the world famous movie and entertainment industry, major sports teams and world famous theme parks including Disneyland and Magic Mountain.
